Sylvia Lu is a tech enthusiast and practising engineer. She has over 10 years’ industry experience in wireless communication R&D, technology standards and innovation. Her technical background includes algorithm design, DSP development for LTE modems, receiver architecture, performance, standards and technology strategy. Sylvia represents u-blox in 3GPP standards and leads its standardisation activities for low complexity cellular communications for the Internet of Things. Since 2013, Sylvia’s interest and work has been focused on cellular IoT, connected vehicles (V2X), LTE-Direct (a.k.a. LTE-D2D), LTE in unlicensed bands, and 5G. Sylvia holds a first degree in Electronic Engineering from Birmingham University and an MSc. in Communications and Signal Processing from the University of Bristol.
Sylvia has championed the “Future Technology SIG” at CW for nearly 4 years, where she succeeded in developing and delivering many successful events targeting young engineers, mainly focused on start-ups and technology. She is a committee member of CW TEC and a member of the CW Journal Editorial Board and in Spring of 2017 she was named as one of two new, member-voted directors on the CW board.
One of Sylvia’s passions is to act as a mentor and role model for more to improve the profile of women in the technology sector.
Recently Sylvia was named as one of the best women in engineering by Silicon Republic.
